Sources: Hibernian agree to sign Bristol City sensation Reuben McAllister on three-year deal
Bristol City midfielder Reuben McAllister has agreed a deal to join Hibernian, sources have told Football Insider. The two clubs have come to an agreement on a 120,000 fee plus add-ons for the transfer of the 16-year-old. McAllister will put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Easter Road. The midfielder is the son of Hibernian‘s current assistant manager Jamie McAllister. The teenager is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the country having already played regularly for Bristol City’s under-23s. McAllister has been watched regularly by scouts since making his debut for the Robins’ under-23’s at the age of just 15 against QPR last October. As revealed by Football Insider (19 June), Leicester City and Brighton were two of a number of clubs weighing up moves for the midfielder. The attacking midfielder was offered a scholarship by Bristol City, who were desperate to keep a hold of their player. However, the Championship club have lost out amid interest from Premier League and Scottish Premiership sides. McAllister is set to join his father and manager Lee Johnson at Easter Road. Hibs ‘set to sign’ Reuben McAllister as Lee Johnson lines up assistant manager’s son for Premiership transfer
HIBS are set to announce the signing of midfielder Reuben McAllister from Bristol City for a £110,000 fee, according to a report. He is the son of current Hibs assistant manager Jamie McAllister. 1 Jamie McAllister of Hearts in 2006 Reuben's father, Jamie, joined as part of Lee Johnson's coaching staff in May. The former Hearts, Aberdeen and Livingston defender has worked as Johnson's No2 for a number of years at Sunderland and Bristol City. A former Scotland international, he returns back to the Scottish game for the first time since 2006. And now, McAllister has used his Bristol City connections to bring his son Reuben into the fold at Hibs. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted today that the deal is done. He said: "Hibernian are set to sign Reuben McAllister from Bristol City. Deal done for €130k fee, sell on clause also included - contract until June 2025. "Lee Johnson, decisive factor ahead of other options in England and Scotland." Meanwhile, Ex-Hibs striker Jason Cummings has been handed a World Cup lifeline by boss Graham Arnold. He has insisted that the door is open to anyone to claim their spot in the squad. Arnold told the Australian Associated Press: "After the game against Peru I said to the boys that there's no guarantees who is going to the World Cup. "It's all about how you go back at your clubs. "Now get fit and do everything possible to get on that sheet of paper of 26 players to go to the World Cup because no-one signed a contract, no-one gave any guarantees." Hibs are currently preparing ahead of their opening Premier Sports Cup game on Saturday. The Easter Road club face Clyde in the opening fixture and then Falkirk the following week.
