The Nigeria Fashion Week is the major fashion event in Nigeria that brings together major players in the Nigerian fashion and beauty industry to meet with top government functionaries, captains of industry, celebrities, the diplomatic and expatriate community with the goal of facilitating trade in the Africa Fashion Industry.

Events lined up for this year’s event with theme ‘Going Green 5″ include daily fashion shows where over 70 of Nigeria’s brightest and top designers will feature in daily fashion shows spread through 3 days that will also feature over 30 international designers.

The event scheduled to hold November 24 – 26, 2022 will have 3 shows taking place daily; by 12 noon, 3pm and 6pm. Each show will be presenting a group of designers. In all, there will be 9 shows throughout the NFW.

Other segments of the pioneer fashion event are a hair show where Nigeria’s 10 top celebrity hair stylists will showcase their latest hair trends, as well as a Make-up show that will feature 10 celebrity make-up artists who will be given the opportunity of showing their professional artistry in a makeup show.

Exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their products at the Trade Fair and exhibition, expected to provide a unique opportunity for both local and international labels, garments and textile manufacturers, producers of foot wears, beauty, hair and fashion related products and accessories to display their outstanding capabilities. It will run from 9am – 9pm daily.

For the fifth time the Nigeria Fashion Show will be going green, in furtherance of the concept of dedicating a segment of the event to eco-fashion.

Tagged ‘The Going Green Collection’, most of the brands championing the ethical and sustainable movement in the fashion industry will be provided this opportunity to make statements. The Going Green Collection will be one of the 9 shows that will be presented at the Nigeria Fashion Week.

Outside the fashion and runway shows, the serious business of fashion is part of the week long event where the Nigeria Fashion Entrepreneur forum is expected to serve as interface between government, financial institutions, corporate organizations, fashion entrepreneurs and stakeholders to interact and deliberate on issues bordering the effects of government policies on the fashion industry, accessing grants and loans from financial institutions and challenges faced by stakeholders in doing business. In attendance will be related top government ministries and parastatals, financial institutions and corporate organizations.

Under the Fashion Generation Next initiative of The Nigeria Fashion Week, fashion design students from various fashion schools will have the opportunity to compete to present a collection at the Nigeria Fashion Week. To support and encourage these budding fashion creatives will be fashion educators and industry leaders. Ultimately, the best 10 schools will be invited to show a collection at the fashion event.

One of the major segments of the event will be the empowerment of women under the Women In Fashion Enterprise (W.I.F.E.) project of the Nigeria Fashion Week.

The annual event which showcases the creativity and ingenuity of Nigerian fashion designers, has since inception in 2002 been re-orienting Nigerian designers to look inward for inspiration by using locally made fabrics and accessories in their production line. This has resulted in opening Africa’s largest fashion market to international designers and luxury brands wishing to take advantage therein.
