Darwin Nunez is a forward valued at £85 million that Liverpool is interested in, and Jurgen Klopp has explained why, while Stewart Downing has urged the Uruguayan to emulate two Reds great.

Even though there are still four weeks until the start of the Premier League season, Liverpool fans will begin to get a sense of what their new forward line will look like soon.

For the first time in six years, the Reds will have to manage without Sadio Mane as the Senegal forward departed the team to join Bayern Munich. That's a man worth £85 million. Darwin Nunez, who recently signed a new contract, will likely be the atta's captain, with January acquisition Luis Diaz on the left and Mohamed Salah on the right.

It will be interesting to watch what starting lineup manager Jurgen Klopp chooses for their first preseason game against Manchester United on Tuesday, with Nunez poised to be the major focus after rejecting the Red Devils to transfer to Merseyside.

Klopp admits having "passion" for Nunez

Nunez has received praise from Klopp as he prepares for the forward to join the senior team.

The Uruguayan scored twice for Benfica—once in Lisbon and once at Anfield—during their Champions League matchup against the Reds last year. He must have made a significant impact on Klopp during those games since the Liverpool manager has described the particular plans.

He described his performance in front of us as "hugely impressive." "When preparing for a match, Benfica players must know their opponent's shoes-to-heels; similarly, we are completely aware of Darwin's abilities.

"The troubles he caused us were due to his strength, technique mix-up, desire, cunning movements, and power. These two games made us all fall in love.

"It's fantastic that he's a really aggressive South American! Being able to watch him play was truly enjoyable, so when we realized we had a chance to sign him, we went all-in. We are now extremely grateful that he is here."

Nunez advised Reds.

Stewart Downing, a former midfielder for Liverpool, has urged Nunez to start strong at Anfied, much like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane did.

Given his probable club-record price, the Uruguayan will be under a lot of pressure to play well. Being fresh to the culture and only 22 years old, Nunez will find it extremely challenging to adjust to the Premier League.

But according to Downing, the striker will swiftly win over his new fans if he gets off to a strong start, much like two of the team's current superstars.

It will be nice if he gets a couple of goals early on, especially at Anfield to build his confidence, he said. "I think he will be a fans' favorite, just the way he plays, 100% the fans will love that," he said.

"That's what happened with Salah and Mane; their careers took off after strong starts, and you want the same for him. From what I've seen, he appears to be a tremendous player."

On Carvalho, Klopp

Given that he might cost £85 million, it makes sense that Nunez is the subject of so much attention. Fabio Carvalho, however, may be another wise acquisition by Liverpool.

The 19-year-old midfielder was outstanding for Fulham last season as they easily won the Championship thanks to his eye for a ball and poise in front of goal.

Also obviously interested in what the teenager can bring this season, Klopp has emphasized the importance of having the flexibility to play in a variety of positions.

He declared, "Watching him was a sheer thrill, without a doubt." "He is able to play a wide range of positions for us in the way we play. He isn't currently committed to any one position; he might play the wing, the eight, the 10, or the false nine if he gains a little more muscle mass.

"It's both a short-term and long-term project; he can begin tomorrow and will need to adjust, as you can see, but when he has the ball, he plays with the right quality. He's here, and I couldn't be happier. fantastic possibility"
