Liverpool is one of the few clubs to benefit Neymar Jr. of PSG during the Ligue 1 Uber Eats match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and FC Metz at Parc des Princes stadium on May 21, 2022. Neymar's transfer from Barcelona to Paris-Saint Germain in 2017 revolutionized that transfer market.

There will be plenty of memories for this generation of players and supporters to look back on when the dust settles in the upcoming years when Jurgen Klopp, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah have all departed Anfield.

From Divock Origi's silky left-foot swing at the Wanda Metropolitano to win the FA Cup, to Kostas Tsimikas' icy penalty at Wembley, this season was one of the best the club has ever experienced. The supporters of tomorrow will have no shortage of stories to tell.

Liverpool have gotten used to success since their heartbreak in Kyiv after the 2018 Champions League final. Klopp has led the Reds to six trophies during his time at the club, and Jordan Henderson has even become the first captain to win six different awards after obtaining the elusive Club World. Despite missing out on a remarkable quadruple in the final plays of the 2021/22 season, Klopp has led the Reds to six trophies.

The two stalwarts Van Dijk and Alisson Becker are the two players who are frequently touted as the purchases that converted Liverpool from the nearly men to the bosses of European football, despite the obvious joint effort of everyone in Klopp's ranks during a glittering four-year span.

From Billy Liddell's heroics in the second division under Bill Shankly to Kenny Dalglish's European dominance all the way up to Luis Suarez and Salah's record-breaking Premier League standards, Anfield has seen it all. Liverpool has been home to some of the best forwards in the game for 130 years.

Although numerous title challenges have failed on the red half of Merseyside since the Reds' 18th league victory in 1990 because of the defense's lack of unity. Brendan Rodgers' class of 2014's troubled back four are commonly mentioned as the cause of Suarez and the team's outstanding run in the season's final third coming to naught.

Even as Klopp started to put together his team during his first few months at Anfield with the acquisitions of Sadio Mane, Salah, and Andy Robertson, the German manager had already noticed a glaring flaw in his team. Only 30 minutes had been played at Wembley in October 2017,Dejan Lovren, a defender for Liverpool, was walking towards the touchline after his manager made a decision that was both harsh and legitimate in response to his horrific 30-minute performance, which was full of mistakes.

As they were defeated 4-1 by Tottenham, goals from Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, and a brace from Harry Kane brought the Reds to their lowest point in Klopp's early years. They conceded 16 goals in the first nine games of the Premier League 2017–18 season, which was the most since the 1964–65 campaign, making their defensive flaws glaringly apparent.

However, Liverpool would have the Barcelona-based executives to thank for their sudden change of the defensive unit, as they were able to purchase the highly desired Southampton defender Van Dijk for a £75 million in January 2018. However, his acquisition would detract from Philippe Coutinho's talent, who would ultimately secure his dream transfer to La Liga six months after his initial attempts to negotiate a deal to Spain.

After a stellar last half-season at Anfield, Klopp's leading talisman would cost a pretty penny if Barca were to buy him. Former sporting director Michael Edwards is renowned for striking a record-breaking transfer transaction for up to £142 million, which was the third-most expensive sale in the history of the sport.

In fact, the world-record pay (£190m) Spain earned for Neymar the summer before contributed to their willingness to authorise a significant sum for Coutinho.

The transfer of Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth in 2019 for just under £20 million and the transaction that saw academy prodigy Rhian Brewster move to Sheffield United for £23.5 million both contributed to that impressive amount. The money was then reinvested at Anfield to give Klopp a better chance of continuing to succeed on Merseyside.

In retrospect, Neymar's choice to join PSG was not a success. all but Liverpool.
