A groundbreaking six-year contract will be signed by the Man City striker
Phil Foden, a forward for Manchester City, is allegedly close to agreeing to a new, generous six-year contract with the Premier League champions this summer.
The Daily Star claims that the 22-year-new old's contract will pay him a base salary of £200,000 a week, with potential increases due to team bonuses.
According to the Star, the England international was on the verge of signing a £150,000 per week contract six months prior. However, he decided to hold off until the end of the season to determine his long-term future, which turned out to be wise.
With his new contract, the City forward will now rank among the club's highest earners and continue his career in the place where he first started.
Foden has been a member of Man City since he first joined the club's development program in 2009. The attacker made his club debut in 2017 when he replaced Yaya Toure in the 75th minute of a Champions League match against Feyenoord. The 22-year-old has since made 97 Premier League appearances, scoring 24 goals and helping his teammates with another 13 goals.
The England player will now be committed to his childhood club for an additional six years, when he will undoubtedly add to his ridiculous medal collection of four Premier League championships, one FA Cup, and four League Cups, a crazy medal haul for a man who is just 22.
The 22-year-old England midfielder Foden had previously verbally agreed to a long-term stay, but after his close friend and dependable legal counsel Richard Green passed away in 2017, negotiations were put on hold.
The Etihad management is now eager to honor the indigenous hero for playing such an important role in manager Pep Guardiola's plans.
Foden, a lifetime supporter of City, currently makes £65,000 a week and has become a fixture for the Three Lions over the past two seasons.
Rodri replaced Fernandinho, who has since returned to Brazil, as the key player at the base of City's midfield. Rodri cost £62.5 million and came from Atletico Madrid.
The 26-year-old Spain star presently makes over £125,000 each week.
