Manchester United fans have taken to social media to mock the club after it appears that Ghana has made more signings than the Premier League club.
Ghana has been preparing for their fourth World Cup appearance, and their first since Brazil 2014.
They have been working behind the scenes to try to recruit more players to represent the country in the tournament since they qualified for Qatar.
Six players have announced that they have changed their international allegiance.
And supporters were quick to point out that they had made more signings than United, who had only made one.
"No way Ghana has made more signings than Man United," a fan tweeted.
Another fan objected to the comparison, saying, "Chelsea have made 0 signings, Man United have made 2, and we're still the ones laughed at." We are enormous."
Two Premier League players have opted to play for the Black Stars. Tariq Lamptey, a Brighton full back, switched from England to Ghana. The 21-year-old turned down an invitation from England U21s in order to travel to Ghana to confirm his decision.
Mohammed Salisu of Southampton has also declared himself available and is expected to be called up by Ghana manager Otto Addo in September.
Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao is another high-profile player who has decided to join Ghana's international team. The Ghanaian striker was born in the Spanish city of Bilbao to Ghanaian parents and has played for Spain once.
Three players who are currently playing in Germany have also committed to playing for Ghana on an international level. Stephen Ambrosius, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, and Patric Pfeiffer are the three players in question. All of the players mentioned above are expected to be called up to Ghana's World Cup squad.
The Black Stars have been assigned to Group H, which includes Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
United is also working behind the scenes to bring in more players for new manager Erik ten Hag, but this is proving to be more difficult than it appears.
So far, the Red Devils have only confirmed one signing: Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.
The second addition is Christian Eriksen.
United are also attempting to sign three more players this month, including Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax duo Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
Ten Hag has begun training his players at the club's training facility in preparation for their preseason tour of Thailand and Australia, which begins on Friday and concludes with a game against Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.
