Over the years, a number of outstanding footballers have joined Manchester United, but many of them have struggled to make an impact on the team. An obvious example is Argentine international Angel Di Maria, who in 2014 left Real Madrid for £59.7 million to join Manchester United. The 34-year-old was eventually traded to Paris Saint-Germain after a year with the red devils due to his poor performance at the team. It's safe to argue that if Angel Di Maria had been given more time at Manchester United, he would have been successful there. Another top player Manchester United let go in the past is Romelu Lukaku. The Belgain International joined the red devils from Everton in 2017 and despite scoring 42 goals and registering 13 assists in 92 games, he was still sold off to Inter Milan in 2019 for a club record fee of €80m.
Well, below is how Manchester United could have lined up if they hadn't sold their top players ;
Forwards: Memphis Depay, Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Midfielders: Angel Di Maria, Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho.
Defenders: Michael Keane, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
Goalkeeper: David De Gea.
