Barcelona is likely to continue drawing talent from across Spanish football as they close in on Alberto Moleiro, according to local news station Canarias7.

Las Palmas and Barcelona are nearing a deal to sell the young offensive midfielder, with Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez and sports director Luis Helguera traveling to Barcelona to finalize the deal.

Alberto Moleiro is widely considered one of the most outstanding players to have emerged from the Las Palmas academy in recent years. Despite his young age, he has had consistent success since being promoted to the senior team last summer, with the midfielder making 38 competitive appearances in the 2021/22 season.

Moleiro's heroics enabled Las Palmas to reach the promotion playoff, but he was unable to prevent his club from losing to Tenerife in the semi-final.

Moleiro is ready to take the next step in his career by joining Barcelona, with promotion out of the question. Following Pedri's tremendous success, Barça launched an intensive scouting operation in Spain for young midfielders.

Moleiro is also set to join the Catalans on a similar agreement. They will pay a transfer fee up front, with Las Palmas likely adding a 15% sell-on charge as well as numerous add-ons.

However, the 18-year-old may not follow in the footsteps of comparable talent in Pablo Torre, as Las Palmas wished to keep the kid for at least another year.

Barcelona were hesitant to release Moleiro, but it is now possible that the teenage midfielder may spend the entire 2022/23 season on loan at Las Palmas before returning to Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Although Las Palmas will not compete in La Liga next season, Alberto Moleiro should not be put off by the idea of a year-long loan stay in La Liga Smartbank. The 18-year-old has a strong affinity with his childhood club and is expected to stay with the Canaries for another season.
