Raheem Sterling To Begin Chelsea Medical On Sunday To Finalise £50 Million Transfer

Raheem Sterling is set to begin his Chelsea medical on Sunday ahead of being announced as the first signing of the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital era. Sterling must now undergo a medical before being allowed to join his Chelsea teammates in the United States of America for their pre-season tour this summer. The winger is said to have agreed personal terms worth over £300,000-a-week as he will become one of the top paid players in the Premier League. As reported by Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, Sterling will begin his medical in London on Sunday afternoon. It is unclear as to whether the medical will be done in separate parts or whether it will be completed on Sunday, allowing him to fly to the US if all is fine. The 27-year-old will likely have to film an announcement and welcome interview, but these could be done once he lands at Chelsea’s Los Angeles training camp in the coming days. The signing will see Boegly and Clearlake Capital dip into the market for the first time as Chelsea owners but is unlikely to be the last of the window. Raphinha is looking most likely to be the next transfer target to be sorted as the Blues have been handed a boost in recent days as he could reopen talks with the club if Barcelona cannot match Chelsea’s £55 million bid. With Romelu Lukaku already departing and Hakim Ziyech looking like he will also move to Milan this summer, there is space for an additional forward as Thomas Tuchel looks to rebuild his squad. The defence is also a priority following departures of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, while Cesar Azpilicueta is also attracting interest from Barcelona. It was also revealed by the Evening Standard that Aymeric Laporte was subject of interest from Tuchel’s side, but Man City rejected their advances ‘out of hand’. The Spanish international confirmed that he will remain at Manchester City. He said: "Yes (I am staying this season), I'm super happy and fit. "The team too. There remains only the common objective, the Champions League. "We will do everything to get it this year." It remains to be seen as to who will follow Sterling through the door at Chelsea as he begins his medical on Sunday in London.

Raheem Sterling to undergo medical ahead of £47.5m Chelsea move

Raheem Sterling is set to undergo his medical in London after Chelsea agreed a £47.5m deal with Manchester City to sign the attacker this summer, according to reports. Sterling joined City back in 2015 from Liverpool for a then-record fee of £44 million. Since then, he has won the Premier League four times with the Cityzens and scored 131 goals in his 339 appearances. However, the 27-year-old has just one year left on his contract and Man City have indicated they are ready to cash-in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 12 months. Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Sterling in recent weeks and a deal has finally been agreed. According to the Atheltic, Chelsea have agreed to pay City £47.5m for the winger and Sterling has already agreed personal terms over a five-year contract which includes the option to extend by another year. Fabrizio Romano says Sterling’s medical has now been booked in London. Once the formalities are out of the way, the attacker will then complete his move back to the capital and join Chelsea on their pre-season tour of the United States.
