Two of three children killed in Awutu Obrachire by an unregistered car.

Two of the three siblings who were injured when an unregistered salon car collided with them in an Awutu Obrachire stall have died.

Jerry and Francis died on the same day as the unfortunate incident at the Bawjiase Polyclinic (Saturday, July 9, 2022).

According to reports, the driver of the saloon car with the trail number plate was speeding from the Bontrase end to Obrachire to continue his journey along the Bawjiase-Swedru main road.

The driver reportedly noticed a pothole and attempted to swerve, losing control and colliding with the container.

Nathaniel, the oldest of the three at 14 years old, was fortunate to see the car earlier and raise an alarm, but it was too late.

Despite his injuries, he managed to jump for safety.

However, twelve-year-old Jeremiah was picked up with broken legs and was pronounced dead at the hospital alongside Francis.

Jeremiah Otoo and his cousin Francis Easel's remains have been deposited at a private morgue in Jei Krodua, Ga South, while his surviving brother, Nathaniel Otoo, has been discharged.

The families of the Otoo brothers, Benjamin Cobbina and Dorcas Andoh, as well as Francis, whom we have yet to reach, have sought counseling.

During the course of this investigation, the immediate past District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu Senya West, Hon. Stephen Kwame Quaye, told Rainbow Radio International that the same vehicle overtook him at high speed when they both drove from the Bereku (district capital).

He (former DCE) attempted to call the Bontrase police station to have them caution the driver, but he would have already driven past the Bontrase police station.

Mr. Quaye discovered the car in a ditch, and the damage was done.

As a former DCE, Stephen suggests that community opinion leaders decide on road safety and people's security because such issues continue to bother residents.

He was also concerned about alleged ritual killings and robberies committed by children.

"Such an attitude must be dealt with permanently," he said.
