Erling Haaland has been handed his Manchester City number. When Gabriel Jesus left the club to join Arsenal for €52 million, many expected Haaland to take his number and that is precisely what has happened. Haaland will wear the number 9 shirt at the Etihad Stadium. The announcement has been made official by the club on their Twitter account. In it, Haaland is looking towards the Etihad, wearing his new number and the photo is accompanied by an image formed on the reflection of a puddle at his feet of him as a child wearing his father’s shirt. At his previous club, Borussia Dortmund, Haaland also wore the number 9 shirt. The Norwegian will be Pep Guardiola’s first-choice striker this season as City look to retain the Premier League title.
