Why Chelsea is receiving more value than Arsenal in the Raheem Sterling vs. Gabriel Jesus matchup

Raheem Sterling, a winger for Manchester City, will soon be announced as a Chelsea player.

This comes after Gabriel Jesus' earlier summer transfer from the Etihad club to Arsenal.

According to numerous reports, Sterling's deal cost about £45 million initially (plus an additional $10 million). Who is getting greater value for their money? This is almost exactly the same amount that Arsenal paid for Jesus.

It should be noted that Sterling is an underappreciated person. No player has outperformed Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne in terms of goals and assists during Pep Guardiola's tenure at Manchester City.

Numbers for Sterling and Gabriel Jesus

The 27-year-impact old's is perhaps most notable for the fact that since Gabriel Jesus' arrival in January 2017, Sterling has scored 19 more goals than the Brazil international. Jesus actually has a little advantage when looking at the "per 90" figure, posting 0.6 goals per 90, but given that he has spent a good deal of his time at the club playing as a center forward, winger Sterling likely has a higher return.

The winger is also the player who is more creative. He has nearly twice as many opportunities created and 16 more assists than his former Manchester City teammate. Over a period of 90 minutes, the difference narrows, but the Englishman remains the more powerful player.

There is no doubt that Jesus has the advantage in terms of potential that can be realized. Arsenal will be hoping that he can reach his peak with regular playing time and a significant position in their team. For the Brazilian, who is 25 and close to the time when most players tend to reach their prime, it's either now or never.

If Chelsea completes the acquisition of Sterling, they will be receiving a better value for their money, but Arsenal is hoping they will be rewarded for their belief in Jesus' potential for greatness.
