When asked about Liverpool's defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, manager Jurgen Klopp said: "I wasn't able to visit some of my family after the game."They were stranded in the outer pandemonium. It was dreadfully planned out. The person who set up the game wasn't prepared. The worst aspect of the night wasn't that we lost [0-1]. It was a mess.

The action that occurred outside the Stade de France necessitated a postponement of the Champions League final. Police harassed hundreds of Liverpool supporters and then used tear gas to try and diffuse the situation.

The French government has largely blamed the supporters, claiming that they are to fault for all the problems. The French organizers have not yet been subjected to any punishment by UEFA for what happened outside the stadium.
