The Ten Most Expensive Right-backs Of The 2010s

Right-backs have already switched teams during the summer transfer period. The top ten most expensive right-backs of the 2010s have not yet been reached by some of these defenders, while others have already completed their transfer as free agents. The most expensive right-back of the 2010s, Kyle Walker joined Manchester City after leaving Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola paid 52.7 million euros to sign him, and he won the Premier League title the previous year.Joao Cancelo, who joined Manchester City in a 40 million euro transfer for the 2018–19 season. For a spot on the team's starting lineup, he has been in competition with Kyle Walker. Nelsen Semedo became the third most expensive right-back of the 2010s, though, after moving to Barcelona. His Barcelona career didn't turn out as intended, which led to his exit from the Spanish club. In the 2010s, right-backs who were signed for a transfer fee of 30 million Euros or more were Danilo and Odriozola. Real Madrid signed both players, but they both fell short of the club's expectations.Serge Aurier became the eighth most expensive right-back in the 2010s when he transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham Hotspur for 25 million in the 2017–18 season. He found it difficult to hold onto his starting spot for the English premier league team, although he was highly effective for Tottenham in the most of the games he played. The following season, Tottenham paid Chelsea the same amount to sign Zappacosta as they did to recruit Serge Aurier. The midfielder was one of Chelsea's worst acquisitions, which explains why he played so little for the team.Diogo Dalot and A. Conti are two other right-backs who made the top ten list. The 2010s saw the signing of both players for more than 20 million euros. In the 2021–2022 season, Diogo Dalot was very impressive under Ralf Rangnick, and he will continue to advance under Erik Ten Hag the following year.

Liverpool are about start to building exciting partnership that will further aid Virgil van Dijk

Joe Gomez's contract with the team runs through 2027, and Ibrahima Konaté is only two years younger than the England international, therefore Liverpool's center-back position is guaranteed.

Liverpool might have already discovered the future center-back pairing. Despite how long Joe Gomez has been at Anfield, it might be simple to forget that he is only 25 years old.

Gomez, who joined the Reds from Charlton Athletic in 2015, benefitted from his early experience playing as a full-back because that position calls for players to be very skilled with the ball.

The Reds now boast the greatest center-back quartet in the league, and their contract with FSG runs through 2027. The acquisition of Ibrahima Konaté by Liverpool in the summer of 2017 turned out to be yet another wise move, as the France international finished the campaign by starting in the Champions League final. Next year, it appears that the Frenchman will start more games, although Gomez may be his long-term teammate.

Before they reach their prime years in the central defense position, both Konaté, who is still only 23, and Gomez still have a ways to go. Although Virgil van Dijk is set to enjoy a long career at the back, there will come a point when it will be more advantageous for him to take more time off. The Netherlands' star was utilised by Liverpool in every game last season, and his return after a protracted sabbatical was a shining example of his commitment off the field.

The example set by a player who is widely regarded as the top center-back in the world is the best example to follow. In some ways, Gomez's detractors have been too harsh to ignore his injury issues.

In addition to making sure that the Reds' defense won't be disrupted until a center-back crisis as random as 2020 occurs, Klopp made a wise financial decision by keeping Gomez at Anfield. To develop a player to Gomez's level through the academy would take too long, and it would be challenging to locate a defender with his natural ability.

By the time players like Jol Matip and Virgil van Dijk start to play less games over the course of a year, Liverpool will already have a ready-made solution, which allows them to go past the stage of gradually integrating a player into Klopp's system.

Konaté's muscular presence will keep the Reds' advantage in the air, and Gomez, one of the team's fastest players, can carry on Klopp's high-line, assisting players like Mohamed Salah and Luis D'az in pressing from the front. There is no actual necessity for Van Dijk to play in the League Cup, therefore Klopp should try to make use of that in the future campaign.

Even though the matchup between Matip and Konaté is currently tight, it would seem to be in Liverpool's best interest to start developing a rapport between what appears to be the Reds' future center-back pairing, which will be supported by two of the best full-backs in the world of football.
