After drawing thousands to his presentation on Sunday, Erling Haaland hopes to follow Sergio Aguero into the hearts of Manchester City fans.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has joined Pep Guardiola's City team as the team's new captain.

After winning the Premier League title with a 'false nine' forward last season, City will put their faith in penalty box predator Haaland in the new season.

Haaland, who will turn 22 on July 21, has joined a City team that has yet to win the Champions League, which is the club's main goal right now.

Last season, Haaland scored 29 goals in 30 games, averaging one goal every 3.6 attempts, and converting 65.8 percent of his big chances.

It's an incredible team, and all we have to do now is keep going and get a little better "Haaland spoke about his City challenge. "I don't have much to say except that I'm looking forward to everything.

Alf-Inge Haaland, Haaland's father, played for City and attended the presentation outside the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

It'll be nice, because my father played here for a few years "Haaland stated. "It's always special when your father did something and you get to do some of the same things he did; it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"I'm really looking forward to it," said the new boy, who will be expected to contribute a flood of goals both domestically and in Europe. It's going to be fantastic. I'm confident we'll have a good time together.

The expectations for this season are to join the new team, get to know everyone, make connections, and have fun. When I'm having fun, I score goals and win games, so it's simple.

There is good reason for the excitement surrounding Haaland's arrival. During his two and a half years at Dortmund, the Norwegian scored 86 goals in 89 appearances in all competitions, trailing only Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski (123 in 108 games).

It'll be nice, because my father played here for a few years "Haaland stated. It's always special when your father did something and you get to do some of the same things he did.

When asked about his childhood idols, Haaland stated: "Of course, it was my father, but I have many jerseys from Aguero at home, so it was him from City.

I admire strikers because I have always been one. Aguero is an excellent example of a goal scorer.

Aguero, an Argentine, is City's all-time leading scorer, having left for Barcelona a year ago after 254 goals in 10 years with the club. He is now retired.

On Sunday, City paraded Haaland, fellow forward Julian Alvarez, and new backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. They could make their debuts during the team's upcoming pre-season trip to the United States.

Kalvin Phillips, who was signed from Leeds United, was expected to attend the presentation but was reportedly unable to do so due to illness.

When asked which team he was most excited to face, Haaland couldn't help but express his eagerness for derby day. On October 1, City will face Manchester United.
