Report on Manchester United: Surprise replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo is made public

Manchester United knows who they want to succeed as a player. Cristiano Ronaldo up front, which is a bit of a surprise selection

With a shocking objective emerging, Manchester United is preparing for life without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sir Alex Ferguson decided not to directly replace Cristiano Ronaldo when United originally sold the Portuguese player, instead recreating the goals that Ronaldo would offer from several sources.

After joining from Wigan Athletic, Antonio Valencia took over the No. 7 shirt and provided effective crossing from the right flank. This time, United may choose another unexpected signing to replace CR7.

Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer expert, claims that the Red Devils may consider a move for out-of-contract Argentine forward Paulo Dybala. This would come as something of a surprise considering the club's recent links to more conventional, physically demanding forwards like Darwin Nunez and Sebastien Haller.

Di Marzio told wettfreunde (opens in new tab), "They are seeking for a No. 9 and if they get Dybala they will have to adapt their playing style, but he's on United's list.

It's hard to say because Inter had the option of signing him, but they chose to sign Lukaku instead because he was their top choice. Inter then backed out. Although AC Milan and Roma are on the list, they might enter the contest if he decides to take home less money. However, they haven't bothered to sign him as of yet.

Di Marzio, a trustworthy transfer source for all things Serie A, claims that not many elite clubs are interested in signing Dybala. The team with the strongest interest in signing the former Juventus player may be United.

"Dybala wanted to play in a top club, and he is on the list of other clubs like Sevilla, but the level of the clubs is not top.

"The six biggest clubs in Europe—Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, or Bayern Munich—had other ideas. Nunez has joined Liverpool, Haaland has joined Man City, and Mane has joined Bayern. Not at the top of their list was Dybala."

"He's in a position right now where he probably needs to alter his perspective. Since it's July and he has no club, he most likely has to play for a lesser team and earn less money. He probably needs to alter some of his beliefs and how he views the future."

"He hasn't yet found a team prepared to pay him the €6 million net per year he requested. He wanted more, but he's only left with €6 million net. So it's an odd situation, an unbelievable situation in this market, that a player of Dybala's caliber is unsigned and without a team."

"Without a contract, he likely assumed he could earn 50% more, but he will really make 50% less. because something has changed this summer in the markets. This represents a revolution in the football industry. It's a revolution because in years past, a player like Dybala would have joined a team in February."

Additional Manchester United news

This summer, Frenkie de Jong has been United's top target. The Red Devils are close to reaching an agreement, but they are still prepared to walk away if the price isn't right. At one point, Harry Maguire even came up in the conversation.

A bid has been made for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, and United has acquired left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

Erik ten Hag will only have £100 million to spend with this summer, making Marco Asensio of Real Madrid a surprising target.
