He won the Portuguese Player of the Season award for Benfica after scoring 26 goals in 28 Premeira Liga games.
Even if Nunez's foot ailment may have annoyed Jurgen Klopp, he will be as eager to watch his new player in action as all Liverpool supporters in the upcoming season.
He described his performance in front of us as "hugely impressive."
"When preparing for Benfica, you know down to the size of the shoes. We know virtually everything about a competitor, so we are completely aware of Darwin's caliber.
"The power and mismatch of skill, the motivation, the cunning maneuvers, the issues he gave us. These two games made us all fall in love.
"It's excellent that a South American is so aggressive! We were all in when we realized we had a decent opportunity to sign him because it was such a joy to watch him, and we're so glad he's here now.
The hope of the crowd is that Nunez will be ready for tomorrow's game against Manchester United.
