Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region and Former Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has unravelled some dreadful information about the electoral management outfit of the country.
In a long post on his Facebook handle, the young member of Parliament revealed that the Electoral Commission isn't doing itself and it's credibility damage with 21 of it's top management staff breaching the Commission's Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of 2008.
"Ghana's Electoral Commission doesn't do it's image any good, and they certainly don't help improve public confidence in their credibility when the Auditor General discloses, rather dreadfully that as many as 21 top management staff including directors do not have personal records, police background check reports and declaration of assests and liabilities on their files. Who are these mysterious 21 top management staff and why are they allowed to violate Article 9(1) of the Commission's Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of 2008, which states "every employee will be required to give particulars about himself/herself on the standard form which shall be inserted on his personal file.

Okudzeto Ablakwa further revealed that despite the commission receiving donor funds and allocations from government, it doesn't have an assest register to capture and record it's numerous assets across the country such as offices, vehicles, guest houses, landed properties, office equipment, residential accommodation, furniture, fittings and accessories.
He however cautioned public service institutions and officials to discharge their duties with trust to grow public confidence.
