The 33-year-old turns 34 next week, and currently has less than 12 months to run on his current contract. Himself having just one year left to run on his contract, Messi could also leave PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2023 and meet up with his former colleague in Florida. It is said that several MLS outfits tried to attract Busquets this summer, but it is his intention to honor his contract with Barca which is why he has rejected all the offers that came his way. But just like Messi, Busquets wants to play in the World Cup later this year for his country, Spain, which means he would be better off staying in Europe for now where national team manager Luis Enrique can better observe him. Busquets' decision has already been passed on to Barca, who have no plans to offer him a contract renewal. Yet reports continue to circulate that the Dutchman will be sold to Manchester United in a deal worth €65mn ($66.6mn) up front and a further €20mn ($20.5mn) in add-ons bringing the total value of the transfer to €85mn ($87mn).
