Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, appealed to Ghanaians to be patient with the government while it implements appropriate measures to help solve the many problems facing the country.

He said following the economic and other challenges the country has been facing, there is a need for cooperation and collaboration on the part of Ghanaians for government to find appropriate solutions to address them.

Dr. Bin Salih made the call while addressing members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) after the swearing in of newly elected GJA executives in Wa.

He said the government has started negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) authorities to support the stabilization of the country's economy in the shortest possible time.

The regional minister allayed the fears of Ghanaians that flagship government programs like the Free Senior High School and Planting for Food and Jobs among other social commitments would not be affected by the IMF demands.

The government would therefore continue to implement the social policies it has put in place that have positively affected people's lives.

Dr. Bin Salih said the government is aware of the hardships Ghanaians are going through and will not shirk its responsibility towards them but will work diligently to improve the economic conditions of the people so they can live a better life.

According to the regional minister, the government would also ensure that the right measures are put in place for Ghana to exit the IMF program earlier than expected.

Dr. Bin Salih appealed to the people of the region to cooperate with security agencies to help ensure eternal peace for the region as there has been an insurgency of terrorist threats in neighboring Burkina Faso.

He urged the people not to take peace for granted but to be actively involved by promptly reporting the activities of suspicious people to the security agencies.
