With Raheem Sterling's £47.5 million move to Chelsea nearing completion, Nathan Ake could be joining his Manchester City teammate in the capital this summer.

It has been widely reported that Manchester City are willing to sell the Dutchman if Thomas Tuchel's side can agree on a price range of £40 million to £50 million.

The Sky Blues could either recoup or profit from the departure of the 27-year-old, who was signed from Bournemouth for £41 million in the summer of 2020.

However, Manchester City would be somewhat light at the back, with only Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, and John Stones as senior center-halves.

As a result, Pep Guardiola is said to want to bring in a replacement for the potentially departing Nathan Ake.

Matthijs de Ligt is one name that has been mentioned several times.

The Juventus defender has piqued the interest of three European powerhouses: Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea.

The former Ajax man has a €120 million release clause in place, but it has been claimed that the Italian giants would be willing to sanction his sale for a lower fee.

However, a number of fans are divided on whether Manchester City will pursue the Dutchman, given his stock.

While one can speculate for hours, a new revelation from Italy details whether the club would be interested in the 22-year-summer old's coup.

According to Tutto Juve, Manchester City is willing to pay €90 million to sign Matthijs de Ligt.

De Ligt, Matthijs

Following the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, Pep Guardiola's plan appears to be to build a team with the best young players in the world, and the two-time Serie A champion is one of such candidates.

While the transfer fee is staggering, it has been stated that the deal is feasible due to City's profit from player sales.

With the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Romeo Lavia, Gavin Bazunu, Darko Gyabi, and Samuel Edozie set to fetch close to a £100 million combined fee, the Sky Blues could flex their financial muscle on de Ligt without breaking a sweat.

Given that Ake has been the Premier League champions' fourth-choice centre-back for the past two seasons, de Ligt will be expected to fill the same role in sky blue next season.

Despite all indications that a move for the imperious defender makes sense, it is unlikely that Manchester City will make such a large investment in a player who will be an understudy next season.
