Former Coventry City man 'expected' to make shock Champions League move
Former Coventry City loanee Leo Ostigard is reportedly set to leave Brighton & Hove Albion and join Champions League side Napoli. The Norwegian centre-back spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Sky Blues and made 40 appearances. He formed a strong partnership with Dominic Hyam in the centre of Mark Robins' defence as they finished 16th in their maiden Championship season. Ostigard became a popular figure with fans for his performances in the West Midlands, but he joined Championship rivals Stoke City on loan last season. After slipping out of Michael O'Neill's starting line-up during the season, he spent the final part of the campaign at Serie A side Genoa. Serie A counterparts Torino were also said to be keen, but Ostigard reportedly favours a move to Luciano Spalletti's side to play in the Champions League this season. Napoli and Brighton have reportedly been in talks over a deal for several weeks, but have struggled to come to an agreement over the fee. It is said the Premier League side want €5million (£4.3m) for the defender, while Napoli would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy. READ MORE:
Napoli move for Brighton defender Leo Ostigard
Napoli have launched a move for Brighton defender Leo Ostigard. The Norway international has spent the past season on-loan with Genoa, though couldn't prevent them from being relegated. Despite the team's struggles, Ostigad enjoyed an impressive campaign and has attracted interest from Napoli. Sky Italia says Napoli are moving for the defender this week. The Azzurri see him as a replacement for Axel Tuanzebe, who has been sent back to parent club Manchester United after a disappointing loan spell. Need a VPN? Or seeking to switch?
