Oneday, in church, as fundraising was ongoing, I didn't have much on me that day because,
First, I had made a lot of expenses that week and secondly, that month brought with it a lot of demands.
During that period, I just carefully managed through the days as they went by, being careful of every detail of financial transactions.
So on this fundraising day, I was careful not to commit myself so much.
The fundraiser started and after sometime, decided to lower the amount.
As soon as the fundraiser gradually descended from the 1,000cedis to 500cedis, I heard a small boy call me thrice and loudly, saying "Sir, Sir, Sir, they're calling 500cedis oooo.
I looked at this boy, hoping that he will end this drama, only for him to ask the final question, which to him was the icing on the cake.
He asked innocently and loudly "Sir, won't you go?" Lol. Aaish
Ohhh yawa oooo. It was so spontaneous that I didn't know what to do. I tried to ignore the call but he called again and again. Finally, I had to smile to him and said alright.
That was when he became ok and left me in peace.
Actually, the boy drew attention to me. Everybody turned to watch my direction. Hahaha
He was a child, he didn't really understand what was going on.
He didn't know what economy was and he thought the fundraising was a parade/display of wealth. Maybe, he had other reasons too.
He felt OK that he drew my attention but he was just seeing things from a juvenile perspective.
Yet to mature, he was childish.
Yet to grow in age and the understanding of roles, responsibilities and the economical season, he was just being a child.
He didn't intend to disgrace me.
He just felt it will look nice if I also come out to add to the raise of funds.
Children live in their own world.
Children are childish and Kids are kiddish, infantile, puerile and juvenile.
They enjoy the moment as long as it last.
They easily forgive and some easily forget.
They can act very stupid in one breath and so intelligent in another instance.
They don't care where you get the money from. All they want to see is food and the kind they desire in that instance.
You may be disgraced by a child who has certain preferences in a hospital/homes when you don't have the means.
They can destroy everything in the room with the intention of re-arranging and even play with snakes, oblivious of the danger they pose.
Like clays, they become what they're moulded into.
And like a tabula rasa(blank slate), we form their opinions, perceptions, attitudes, dreams and acts by what we write or pour in their minds through their five senses.
They're smart if well raised, nurtured and mentored.
They're arrows that when aimed well, can hit the target, bring great and desired expectations that will last for generations and impact nations and cultures.
If they're poisoned and left to grow like weeds instead of being nurtured and mentored, they can become weapons in the hands of anyone/institutions with evil intentions, schemes and agenda.
For these reasons, extra care must be taken in raising them since they're fragile like eggs and what we do or say can make or unmake them [and this world]
Are you being a good example (in speech, in love, in faith, in conduct/demeanour, in purity/ integrity) to your children, to other children and to your young siblings?
Are you a positive influence or negative influence?
Do you take advantage of them because of their gender?
Be careful of the seed you sow, for time flies very fast and you will definately eat the harvest (either of corruption or incorruption).
Desist from all forms of misuse or abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, psychological, social, educational, labour) or cruelty.
Don't attach strings before you help adolescents girls or boys.
The good book says, in Psalms 127: 3—5], that "Children are as arrows in the hand of a warrior"
So how are you throwing your arrows?
Impact the next generation by having time for children and raising them to live purposefully and intentionally.
Note: There are pedophiles and evil-agenda oriented people waiting out there and seeking innocent children to destroy or to recruit for unimaginable intentions and purposes.
If you're to busy with job/problems or unconcerned to raise them, the society, friends, social media or the Internet can mould deviants, vampires or non-conformist who will come back to serve you a fruit from the tree they've become.
#Keep an eye on y(our) child(ren) for they're the future.
#Don't show partiality or favouritism for their minds are like cameras or recorders.
#Help them to dream big and have good visions.
#Feed them with the right food, things and information.
And remember this:
NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILDREN, FOR THEY NEVER GIVE UP IN THEIR PURSUITS/INTERESTS/WAYS.
