Fix these 4 issues before we strike again- preceptors to GES

Before we attack again, address these 4 issues. Teachers to GES

Four concerns have been identified by teachers working for the Ghana Education Service (GES) as ones that need immediate attention. According to information discovered by Ghana Education News on social media, GES's refusal to proactively address these problems will force teachers to strike once more after the COLA issues have been rectified.

According to the article, the GES needs to address the following issues with teachers right now to prevent a second walkout after the COLA.

1. For the past three years, (GES) has completely failed to upgrade teachers who have completed their first degree. Every month, they continue to offer fictitious guarantees and hopes. Enough with the lies.

2. For the past three years, no textbooks have been provided for the new curriculum.

3. After taking them away for a year, failed to give teachers their TM1 laptops. In the Tamale metro area, (80%) of JHS teachers still don't have laptops.

4. Failure to promote subordinate ranks

Prior to the start of another strike, all of these must be resolved right away.

The warning signs need to be taken seriously by those in leadership in order to assist prevent any additional strike action shortly after the demands of teachers with regard to the COLA are satisfied because it appears that they want to address all the difficulties that face the profession and their work now.

In a related event, the four pre-tertiary teacher union leaders will meet on Tuesday, July 12 with trade union and government representatives to discuss the current industrial action and COLA, which started on July 4, 2022.

Four teacher unions, including the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT), are on strike and are demanding a 20 percent raise in their base pay.
