Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp concerns a warning and criticizes Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp has issued a warning to his Liverpool players ahead of the new season, while also taking a jab at bitter rivals Manchester United during their pre-season tour.
Jurgen Klopp has issued a pre-season warning to his Liverpool squad.
Last season, the Reds came close to making history, finishing second in the Premier League and Champions League while winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. And Klopp has told his team what to expect when the new season starts in August.
It comes after the Liverpool manager made a sly dig at bitter rivals Manchester United. And, for the first time, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have been named to Liverpool's pre-season tour squad.
Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino all left Liverpool during the summer window, while Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Nunez, and Fabio Carvalho joined. However, Klopp insists that "no places are already sorted" in his starting XI, with players having to earn their place.
The Reds' manager also stated that "there's a good chance of another good season."
The Reds' manager takes a shot at Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp has poked fun at Liverpool's archrival Manchester United.
The Reds begin their preseason tour of Asia in Thailand, where they will face arch-rivals Manchester United in a preseason friendly. Klopp spoke about the warm reception his team received at an airport press conference prior to the two games.
And the Reds manager was clearly having a good time when he asked: "First question I have...did it look like this yesterday when Manchester was here as the Pre-season tour squad was announced?"
Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have been named to Liverpool's 37-man squad for their preseason trip to Thailand and Singapore for the first time.
The Reds were very energetic in the transfer window, signing 19-year-old Portuguese central midfielder Carvalho before announcing the stunning acquisition of Nunez from Benfica in an £85 million deal. Calvin Ramsay is not in the squad after joining from Aberdeen last month.
Ramsay was signed to provide competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is among the traveling party, but Jurgen Klopp recently revealed that during his medical, an injury that could cause him long-term problems was discovered. Neco Williams and Caoimhin Kelleher are also absent.
