Dani Alves criticizes Barcelona's "sins" for their manner of exit and lack of respect.

After five and a half years away, the Brazilian full-back returned to Barcelona this year, but his short-term contract at the Camp Nou was not renewed this summer.

As he criticized the manner of his departure this summer, Dani Alves accused Barcelona of "not caring" about those who made history for the club.

Barca did not extend Alves' short-term contract, despite the veteran right-desire back's to stay at the club for at least the first half of next season to keep his World Cup dream alive, so he is now a free agent looking for a new club.

The Brazilian right-back became Blaugrana boss Xavi Hernandez's first signing at the Camp Nou, arriving on a free transfer in January after his contract with Sao Paulo was terminated last September. He made 17 appearances for Barcelona in the second half of the season, but his short-term contract was not renewed.

Alves restored to Barcelona after a five-and-a-half year absence, but he was unable to replicate the success of his first Camp Nou stint this season, as Xavi's side finished the season empty-handed despite a positive start to the season.

In an interview with The Guardian, Alves clarified that he "did not leave sad" after leaving the Camp Nou this summer, adding, "I left happy to have returned to Barcelona." I had wished for this second moment for five years. The only thing I didn't like about my departure was how it was handled."

"Since I arrived, I made it very clear that I wasn't any longer a 20-year-old guy and that I wanted things done head-on, without hiding things," the Brazilian continued. But, in recent years, this club has sinned. Barcelona is uninterested in the people who have made history for the club. As a Barcelona fan, I would like to see the club do things differently. I'm not referring to myself because my situation was different. I will be eternally grateful to Xavi and the president for rescuing me.

"I found a club full of young people with incredible ideas on the pitch," Alves said. However, it must improve its work outside of the field. The mindset is diametrically opposed to what we established a few years ago. Everything that occurs on the field is a reflection of what occurs in the outside world.

"I want Barcelona to win again, but it's a complicated situation." Football is more balanced; it is a team sport. And that was overlooked at the club."

Pumas of Mexico have been linked with a move for Alves this summer, following reports that Ronaldo Nazario wanted to sign him at Real Valladolid - with a sensational plan to sign both Alves and Marcelo, who left Real Madrid this summer. Alves' future is uncertain as he seeks a new club that will provide him with regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, which begins in November.
