As a result of the ongoing teachers' strike, the government will start talks with organized labor and union leaders today, Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at precisely 2:00pm, according to the NLC.
Here are some forecasts: 1. Following today's meeting, the government will probably beg workers to accept the current economic hardship, make sacrifices, and give up their demands for COLA. The unions will probably be given the assurance that they may adequately negotiate the base wage increase in 2023.
2. Given that the teacher unions might not pay attention to government pleas, the Labour Commission is likely to file an Ex-parte motion on Wednesday at a Circuit Court in Accra to seek an interim injunction on the teachers strike. 3. The court could grant the Labour Commission's request and order the union to end the strike.
4. The union's leaders are probably going to call a press conference and temporarily end the strike.
5. The union leaders will give the government until the end of July, after which they threaten to resume their strike if nothing changes. 6. On Monday, July 18, 2022, teachers may be asked to resume work in a productive manner.
7. Furious teachers will accuse their leaders of calling off the strike and accepting a large envelope from the government.
8 COLA stuff will perish naturally once more.
9. The NDC and NPP will engage in discussions on radio and in other media.
10. Partisan teachers who could receive the COLA may band together to defend and attack.
