The fourth iteration of the Israeli Green Innovation Competition is now accepting applications, thanks to the Embassy of the State of Israel and the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement.

The competition this year is concentrated on supporting young Ghanaian entrepreneurs' sustainable green innovation projects.

At the beginning of the 10th Edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show, Shlomit Sufa, the Israeli ambassador to Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, opened the calls for applications.

In expressing her enthusiasm for the competition this year, she said, "As a country that views innovation as the main engine for its economic growth, I am excited to be able to support solutions that address Ghana's challenges in agriculture and climate change, while at the same time supporting the SME ecosystem."

As part of the 10th Ghana Garden and Flower Show, Ambassador Sufa said, "I would like to take this occasion to formally start registration for the 2022 edition of the Israeli Green Innovation Competition. I would like to invite you to enter this year's competition if you are a startup in the agricultural, horticultural, or environmental sectors or if you have a prototype concept that supports and promotes climate change. Entering will provide you with an outstanding learning experience.

Startups who want to take part in the competition must provide creative solutions to problems in the agricultural, horticultural, or environmental sectors that support green innovation in Ghana and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, which calls for an increase in sustainable production.

Participants will outline the details of their prototype or solution in a 90-second video clip, including their identity, the issue statement, the advantages, and a brief description of how their creative approach addresses the sector's difficulties.

Registration is open until Thursday, August 4th at https://www.gardenandflowergh.com/igic/registration for interested participants.

Six qualified contestants will be chosen after screening and shortlisting for the final pitch, which will be chaired by a distinguished panel of judges on September 4, 2022, at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park.

Each contender would be given five minutes to demonstrate their creative solution.

This occasion will take place at the 10th Ghana Garden and Flower Show.

The competition's winner will get a fully funded vacation to Israel to attend conferences, meetings, and excursions connected to the sector in order to network, learn about best practises, and find possible investors to grow his or her current firm.

IGIC

The Israeli Green Innovation Competition (IGIC), which was established in 2019, strives to recognise people and organisations for their creative approaches to promoting environmental preservation and agriculture in Ghana.

Together with the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, a project of Strategic Communications Africa Limited, the programme is carried out (Stratcomm Africa).

Israel's two biggest strengths—agriculture and innovation—are combined at the IGIC. Israel takes pride in being an innovative country that promotes innovation wherever it goes.

The Israeli Green Innovation Competition therefore focuses on forward-thinking start-ups in the agricultural and horticulture industries.

The tournament has previously been won by Mr. Prince Pius Nutsugah from Coologi Ghana in 2019, Mr. Jefferey Appiagyei from SAYeTECH in 2020, and Mr. Maxwell Kojo Xonu from EbaPreneur Solutions Ghana in 2021. All of them will receive fully compensated trips to Israel.
