The 26-year-old Ghanaian international was on the radar of Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach but the play maker decided to join Fc Freiburg after meeting management of the club.
As stated by the attacking midfielder, Freiburg felt right for his career development.
"I was definitely lucky, and privileged to have a few interested parties from the German Bundesliga. I listened to everything, and had discussions. SC Freiburg, made me feel very good right from the start. It was a very warm first conversation through video with Klemens Hartenbach and Jochen Saier," He told Kicker.
"I was invited to Freiburg a week later and that was again a very warm encounter, for the first time also with the coach. That made me even more positive than what I had heard, or seen on TV.
"In terms of content, there were many good aspect. The way the coaching team assessed me and my development potential, it was practically identical to how I see myself. It was a very good fit in all respects. I think I can take my next step very well here walk.’
Kyere’s playing career was in the balance when he left the Wolfsburg U19s, following a serious cruciate knee injury, but he rediscovered his mojo with Havelse in Germany’s fourth side. Eleven goals in twenty nine games in 17/18 season paved the way for a move to 3. Liga’s Wehen Wiesbaden, whom he helped gain promotion through the play-offs with 17 goals along the way.
Kyereh has since made 91 Bundesliga 2 appearances, following up his 13-goal hand in a Wiesbaden shirt in 2019/20 with even greater numbers for st Pauli. The 5'9" right-footer hit nine goals, and assisted 10 in 2020/21, before producing a career best 12 goals and 10 assists this past campaign. The Ghanaian international reward is a long-term deal with Freiburg.
