Matthijs de Ligt ‘CANCELS Chelsea transfer talks in bid to push through Bayern Munich move from Juventus’

CHELSEA target Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly put his talks to join the club on hold in order to wait for a bid from Bayern Munich. The Dutchman is wanted by the Blues this summer following the losses of centre-halves Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. 3 Matthijs De Ligt could be on the move this summerCredit: Getty De Ligt, 22, put in a transfer request at Juventus and is heading for the exit. Chelsea had been the front-runners to sign the former Ajax star, previously seeing an offer of £34million plus either Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic rejected. However, De Ligt has decided to put talks with the Blues on hold in order to allow Bayern to try to strike an agreement, says Christian Falk. This follows on from their previous offer of £68m, which will be matched by Bayern once they table their next bid, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Despite this, it remains some way shy of the £85m Juve want for the defender - though £76.5m is believed to be enough to complete a deal. Bayern have been busy this summer, bringing in Ajax star Ryan Gravenberch and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane. But the Bavarians' window has been overshadowed by Robert Lewandowski's desire to leave the club. Chelsea have had a much slower start to the window as new owner Todd Boehly has been forced into the role of interim director of football following the departures of chairman Bruce Buck and transfer guru Marina Granovskaia. Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo has also been sensationally linked with a move to Stamford Bridge due to his unhappiness at Old Trafford. The 37-year-old scored 24 goals last season but was unable to get United back into the Champions League. SunSport reported last night that the Red Devils are resigned to losing their star man this window. 3 Raheem Sterling has agreed personal terms with ChelseaCredit: Getty 3 Cristiano Ronaldo could swap Manchester for LondonCredit: Getty

Transfer news LIVE: Harry Kane lined up as Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich replacement, Raphinha to Barcelona imminent

Morning football news Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure on a five-year deal. The Eagles have paid in the region of £20m for the Mali international, who becomes the club’s third new arrival this summer. Chairman Steve Parish said the purchase of the 22-year-old was ‘yet another statement of intent’ that highlighted the club’s ambition. The deal is subject to international clearance. Meanwhile, Toby Alderweireld has completed his transfer to hometown club Royal Antwerp. Antwerp confirmed that the club has reached a deal with Al-Duhail and agreed personal terms with Alderweireld, who returns to Europe after one year in Qatar. The ex-Tottenham star is now expected to sign a three-year deal with the Belgian outfit once the last few details are finalised. Elsewhere, West Ham have reportedly had a second bid rejected for Lille youngster Amadou Onana. Onana, 20, has been the target of Premier League interest this summer.
