Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the minister for the Upper West region, has pleaded with Ghanaians to be patient while the government implements the necessary policies to enable the nation deal with its various problems.
He said that in light of the nation's current economic and other issues, Ghanaians must work together and cooperate in order for the government to be able to develop effective ways to solve them.
Following the swearing-in of the newly elected GJA leadership in Wa, Dr. Bin Salih spoke with members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and made the plea.
In order to get assistance to stabilise the nation's economy as soon as possible, he said that the administration had started talks with IMF officials.
The Regional Minister allayed Ghanaians' concerns by promising that the IMF criteria will not have an impact on the government's main programmes, including the Free Senior High School and Planting for Food and Jobs, among other social commitments.
As a result, the government would keep enforcing the social programmes it had put in place that had improved the lives of the populace. According to Dr. Bin Salih, the government is aware of the struggles that Ghanaians face and will not ignore its obligations to them. Instead, it would strive relentlessly to improve the citizens' economic circumstances so that they may live better lives.
The Regional Minister stated that the government would also see to it that the necessary steps were taken so that Ghana could exit the IMF Program earlier than anticipated.
As terrorist threats in the neighbouring country of Burkina Faso increased, Dr. Bin Salih urged the locals to work with the security forces to ensure the region's long-term stability.
He asked the populace to actively participate in maintaining the peace by swiftly reporting any suspicious activity to the security authorities rather than taking it for granted.
