Jorginho ‘wants to stay’ at Chelsea amid transfer interest

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says he wants to stay at the club amid speculation over his future in west London. Jorginho, 30, has one year left on his contract with Chelsea and has been admired by Juventus for several years. The Chelsea vice-captain, however, has spoken about his desire to remain at the club in an exclusive interview with The Athletic. “Of course, I love Chelsea,” Jorginho said. "I feel very well here and of course, I’d like to stay. “But you know, there is a lot going on and we don’t know. As I said before, I am here now and I have contract and I love to be here, I feel very well here. So I don’t think about moving anywhere.” Jorginho has featured prominently for Chelsea since his move from Napoli in 2018, but at times has polarised the club’s fanbase. He made 47 appearances last season, scoring nine goals. He also addressed the transfer speculation that has followed him since moving to Stamford Bridge four years ago, saying: “Yes, for many years now, every single year! “No, I don’t think like this. I just think about where I am and I need to focus 100 per cent. I’m at Chelsea and I think about Chelsea 100 per cent.” Fellow midfielder N’Golo Kante also has only a year remaining on his Chelsea deal, with his long-term future also uncertain. Kante has missed out on Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the US due to his COVID-19 vaccination status but Jorginho has travelled, along with returning loanees Conor Gallagher and Ethan Ampadu. Gallagher in particular caught the eye for his performances in Crystal Palace’s midfield, while Ampadu was used in a variety of positions at Venezia in Italy. "I Love To Be Here" - Jorginho Provides Update On Future At Chelsea

Jorginho wants to stay at Chelsea beyond this summer, but remains unsure where his long-term future lies. The 30-year-old has just one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is yet to enter contract renewal talks with Chelsea. Santos admitted: “Chelsea are the priority. “The contract will expire in 2023, I think we will talk about the renewal from September." Jorginho has constantly been linked with a return to Italy. Juventus have been strongly linked with a switch for the Italy international, and remain interested in a potential swoop. But the central midfielder is focused on his time at Chelsea and not looking for a transfer at the moment. “But you know, there is a lot going on and we don’t know. “As I said before, I am here now and I have contract and I love to be here, I feel very well here. So I don’t think about moving anywhere. “For many years now (there is speculation). Every single year! I don’t think like this. I just think about where I am and focus 100 percent. I’m at Chelsea and I think about Chelsea 100 percent." But Jorginho knows you have to take it day by day, and take whatever happens in their stride to ensure they push themselves to the limit on a daily basis. He continued: "We don’t know (what is going to happen) but we are professionals. “The only thing I feel I can say is that everyone is still here. They need to focus on what they are doing here every single day, not just for the club but for themselves because you don’t know what is going to happen. "Maybe they can have an opportunity here, they don’t go anywhere, they stay here and can help us. “Every day (they need to) push themselves to work hard and think for this team because it is their team now. They are here now. If tomorrow something happens then they can think another thing."
