Fabio Carvalho said that his Tuesday match against Manchester United for Liverpool was a bittersweet occasion.
Liverpool lost 4-0 in Bangkok as the Portugal U21 attacker, who was acquired from Fulham this summer, played the first 30 minutes.
The No. 28 said the following after the game: "This is what I've been working on from the first day of training and continues to be my focus today: trying to join the team.
"I was on the field with my new teammates today, and they welcomed me very warmly. I'm just grateful to be here, and hopefully we can settle things before the next game.
"We have a winning attitude that we carry over from practice to competition. We do our hardest to win every game because we want to win at all costs.
"Since it was clearly my first game for Liverpool and hopefully the first of many, it was a little bittersweet for me.
"Nobody loves to lose, especially to United and in the manner we did, but I'm confident we'll be working on the field to try to make up for it the next time we face them.
"Naturally, I had the opportunity, and it was posted. But I'm confident I'll score in the next game, so I must approach it with that mindset.
I must enter the upcoming game with that frame of mind."
He went on: "I've had great treatment from everyone. They have assisted me every day and they continue to do so, which I appreciate. It's just a large family; this may seem overly cliche, but Liverpool is like that.
"If you make mistakes when playing against one of the finest teams in the nation, you will pay for them. Therefore, we must be sure to learn from our mistakes and make sure they are corrected. We can perhaps put everything to rest in the upcoming game."
