Vice-Chancellors Ghana (VCG) officially issues a call for applications from adequately qualified individuals already employed by Ghana's public universities for the job of Executive Secretary, which will begin on August 1st, 2022.
POSITION: Vice-Chancellors of Ghana Executive Secretary (VCG)
REPORTING TO: Vice Chancellors of Ghana Chairperson (VCG)
The purpose of Vice-Chancellors, Ghana (VCG), is to act as a consultative platform for the coordinated addressing of the various difficulties that face higher education.
This would continue due to:
utilizing the distinctive qualities of the member universities to realize shared goals.
By coordinating the actions of member universities, synergy is created to maximize returns on educational investments.
forming a unified voice for higher education and promoting better public knowledge and support of the industry
Characteristics of Candidates for Appointment
The following qualities are anticipated in the successful applicant:
dynamic, self-driven, and focused on results with proven leadership ability;
a team player with strong interpersonal abilities; capable of making wise decisions; showing a strong sense of initiative; and possessing strong managerial and administrative abilities;
knowledgeable with the rules and procedures governing higher education;
a strong writer of reports with strong communication abilities; computer literate.
Ordinarily, an applicant must be able to complete at least one four-year term in office before reaching the mandatory retirement age of sixty (60).
Competencies and Experience
The following training and expertise are necessary:
At least a Master's degree in the appropriate field, or an equivalent certification. Any more academic or professional credentials would be advantageous.
In a public university, the applicant must have earned the level of Senior Assistant Registrar at the very least.
DUTIES
The Executive Secretary is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and coordination of the VCG Secretariat. The following are just a few of the obligations:
Organize and manage VCG programs.
initiate and create ground-breaking initiatives that will advance higher education in Ghana.
oversee the gathering and distribution of information and data about universities.
Manage relationships with the government, the general public, the media, and international organizations through lobbying.
