FC Barcelona releases the squad for their preseason matchup with UE Olot.
21 players were called up by Xavi Hernandez to make their preseason debuts.
It's time for Barcelona's upcoming game! UE Olot will be the first opponent for the 2022–23 season's opening friendly, and Xavi Hernández has called up the following 21 players for their preseason debut on Wednesday:
Goalkeepers: 1. Marc-André ter Stegen, 13. Iñaki Peña
Defenders: 2. Sergiño Dest, 4. Mika Mármol, 15. Chadi Riad, 18. Alejandro Balde, 22. Àlex Valle, 25. Arnau Casas
Midfielders: 5. Franck Kessie, 6. Miralem Pjanic, 7. Álex Collado, 8. Pedri, 14. Nico González, 16. Pablo Torre, 21. Marc Casadó, 24. Antonio Aranda
Forwards: 10. Ansu Fati, 11. Ez Abde, 12. Fabio Blanco, 17. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 23. Ilias Akhomach
It is natural that the first preseason squad list has a number of players that fans won't immediately know given that the team has only been together for a little over a week and that 12 players have recently returned from vacation after June international obligations. For this match, 11 players from Barça Atlético and the under-19s have been called up, including the very exciting Pablo Torre. If he performs well in preseason, Torre could replace Pedri or Gavi and make an unlikely ascent to the first team's stardom.
Other notable players include Franck Kessie, who has impressed in training and is prepared to contribute right away, Ansu Fati, who is looking for an injury-free preseason, and Dest and Pedri, who have returned after missing the end of the previous season due to injury.
A lengthy list of players will be missing from this match, including Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Samuel Umtiti, Eric Garca, scar Mingueza, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie De Jong, Gavi, Martin Braithwaite, and Memphis Depay, who have just returned from vacation. Ferran Torres will also be unable to play due to a minor foot injury, and Gerard Piqué won't
Predicted starting XI (4-3-3):
Ter Stegen; Dest, Kessie, Mármol, Balde; Pedri, Nico, Torre; Ez Abde, Aubameyang, Fati
