For the celebration of Eid ul-Adha, the most important feast on the Islamic calendar, the Muslim community in Kumasi received many household necessities, including a bullock, from the former Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah in collaboration with KEDA Ceramics Ghana Ltd.

The Chinese firm joined forces as they do each year to assist the festivities in the Zongo so that they may take part in their festival of sacrifices, continuing a charitable tradition started by Mr. Herbert Mensah, a Christian who also happens to be a business partner of KEDA Ceramics.

The Festival of Sacrifice, also known as Eid ul-Adha, is observed worldwide in every Islamic community to remember Abraham's submission to Allah. The annual Hajj journey to Mecca's sacred land comes to a close with the Festival of Sacrifice.

Muslims believe that the yearly sacrifice ceremony is a chance to reflect on other people and repent of past mistakes.

Muslims offer up sheep and animals as a symbol of Abraham's (Abraham's) devotion to God, who ordered him to offer up his only son as a gesture of submission after appearing to him in a dream.

All loyal Muslims who can afford an animal must take part in the sacrifice festival.

It is also required that those who are wealthy donate to charity so that others who are less fortunate may afford to attend the celebration. Since he was in charge of one of Ghana's top soccer clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the former chairman has developed warm ties with the Zongo community in Kumasi. He has since upheld those ties with the help of business sponsors like KEDA Ceramics, a division of SUNDA international, a Chinese manufacturer and distributor of household goods.

On behalf of KEDA and Herbert Mensah, King Edward of Hello FM in Kumasi and Prince Osei of Kessben FM donated a bullock this year valued at 15,000 Ghana cedis. Sunda International also contributed other consumable home goods for the occasion of EID ul-Adha in 2022.

Herbert Mensah said in a message read on his behalf that the annual donation to the Muslim community is in keeping with his long-standing custom of maintaining a connection with the Zongo community, which has always supported him, particularly during his tenure as Kotoko chairman and his charitable work with the May 9 Foundation.

Herbert Mensah also emphasised that KEDA Ceramics, one of the largest producers and suppliers of ceramic tiles in Ghana and West Africa, joined him in assisting the Muslim community because the Chinese business shares his philanthropic principles and compassion for the underprivileged in Ghanaian society, which has assisted the expansion and development of their business in the nation.
