MCE returning to Kumasi after a meeting in Accra
Mr. Alfred Amoah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, and his driver, Samuel Gyasi, were killed in a horrific road accident on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
According to GhanaWeb's information, the incident occurred near Sefwi Akaasu on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
According to an eyewitness, the accident involved a trailer with the registration number AS 4229 X and the Nissan Patrol in which the MCE was traveling.
The trailer, which was traveling from Kumasi to Accra, is said to have lost control on the Accra-Kumasi highway near the Birim River after its axle broke in the middle of the road.
It then collided with the MCE's car, registration number GC 2060-18, destroying the engine, the driver's seat, and the front passenger's seating area.
The MCE was said to be on his way back to Kumasi from Accra, where he and other appointees had earlier met with the President.
The deceased Alfred Amoah and his unidentified driver died instantly at the time this report was filed. Their bodies remained trapped in the car, but police and firefighters were on the scene attempting to restore vehicular order and recover the remains.
According to the state-owned Daily Graphic, the accident, which involved multiple vehicles, occurred at Apedwa near Tafo in the Eastern Region.
The incident was also confirmed by the Western North Regional Minister, Richard Rocky Joojo Obeng.
"This afternoon, he was with me. He just left my office around 4:00 p.m. "He was with me in Accra," the Minister confirmed to the Daily Graphic.

AB Crentsil recalls, "not even my instruments were spared."
He was undoubtedly one of Ghana's most iconic highlife legends, but one of his popular songs got him in so much trouble that he had to do the unthinkable to escape.
While speaking on the Best Entertainment Show on Accra-based Okay Fm in 2021, the highlife legend, AB Crentsil, shared the story of his song, Atia, and how it nearly got him beaten in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, and how he only got to escape after scaling a wall.
According to him, the angry residents of Bolga wanted to severely beat him during a tour of the region because they felt his song portrayed them as drunkards.
The people requested a withdrawal of the song as well as for him to send an official apology to their chief.
He also explained that while he escaped, his musical instruments were not spared by the agitated residents.
“We used to visit Bolga for shows and we used to play at Catering Rest House. I am used to Northerners and their lifestyle. You know that the songs of A.B Crentsil songs are always characterized by controversies. We went for a performance in Bolgatanga. At the time, I had just released the “Atia” song and there was a misunderstanding here and there.
"When we arrived at the venue, we set up and prepared for the show, then took a break until the show began." It was a time when we attached a concert group to the band in order to perform in rural areas. The venue was packed to capacity, and we played a variety of music, including highlife, funk, and reggae. I was supposed to mount the stage during highlife. When it was my turn, I performed several tracks and made it clear that I would be finished and the concert group would take over.
"A young man came up on stage and demanded to know why I wanted to end my performance because I hadn't performed 'Atia.' Unbeknownst to me, they wanted to perform 'Atia' in order to beat me, but when I tried to persuade them, they refused. He told me straight in the face that whether I played Atia or not, I would be beaten. "There was no escape route looking at the scene, so I passed by the wall as if I was going to urinate and jumped over to avoid beatings," he explained.
Many pundits claimed that when the undeniably all-time hit song was released, it made fun of the brothers from the north who had traveled south of the country in search of greener pastures.
