Raheem Sterling confirms his departure from Manchester City with a £50 million move to Chelsea.

After writing an emotional parting letter to the Premier League winners, Raheem Sterling has revealed he will finish his transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea on Wednesday.

According to reports, the English international was purchased by the Blues for £50 million. He has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

27-year-old Sterling leaves City having amassed 131 goals in 337 games over a productive seven-year stay at the Etihad.

Sterling confirmed the move by posting a letter to City on Twitter, which read: "Seven seasons, eleven major trophies, a lifetime of memories.

"To the coaching staff who have played a massive role in my development over the years. To my teammates who have become more than just those | share a pitch with.

"To the backroom staff, to the office staff, to the fans who have tirelessly supported the team, and to everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldn't be greater. What a ride it's been.

"I am thankful for the ups and the downs, as it's the downs that have, at times, tested my strength and resolve, and enabled me to stand here in front of you as the best possible version of myself.

"I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old. Today, I leave as a man. Thank you for your endless support. It's been an honour to wear the shirt of Manchester City."

When City acquired Sterling in 2015 for £49 million from Premier League rivals Liverpool, they became him the most expensive English player in history.

He would later contribute significantly to Manchester City's success under Pep Guardiola, helping the team win four Premier League championships, one FA Cup, and four EFL Cups during his tenure there.

The former QPR youngster is now back in London and is Chelsea's first significant acquisition since Roman Abramovich's departure.

At Stamford Bridge, he will be one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, making more than £300,000 a week.

Before the transfer market shuts, Chelsea are anticipated to add more players, with head coach Thomas Tuchel reportedly receiving a £200 million war chest this summer.
