Ellen Ama Daaku, a candidate for the position of National Women Organiser in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), stated that her motivation for running for the position is to make sure that more possibilities are made to raise the socioeconomic standing of women throughout the 16 regions.

She asserts that it is past time for the party leadership to implement unambiguous policies to empower and take care of the needs of all women and other "recognised" women's groups, from the local level to the federal level.

"What our women need is not the typical giveaways where we buy clothes, cooking oils, sewing machines, etc. to sway their votes and then dump them till another election," she said. Instead, our ladies require hand-ups in areas where specific laws are in place. and programmes are specifically created for their welfare and economic development so they can live with some respect in society.

The NPP's National Communication team member, Ms. Ellen Ama Daaku, said that "the ladies of our party have paid their dues...

despite serving our great party in various capacities, they have nothing to show for their efforts.

simply because no one is advocating on their behalf or raising their concerns.

She claims that although Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-administration Addo's has implemented several policies and programmes that support women, the majority of them have not benefitted NPP women.

She stated that in order to highlight all women, she will collaborate closely with the different regional and constituency women organisers and other entities. The party women to identify their strengths so that, if they are elected to office, the party can offer them chances and assistance.

Ms. Ellen Ama Daaku is presently engaging party delegates on a national tour.

Ashanti, Eastern, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Northern, North East, Volta, Oti, Savannah, Western, Western North, and Central areas have all seen her travels thus far.

The GIMPA final-year law student, who appears to have more attributes that would assist women and the NPP as a party, believes that the majority of women in the NPP still have unmet expectations from the local level to the national level.

Ms. Daaku made the observation that there are a number of devoted young party members, women, and former and present female executives who have given the NPP their entire life, their time, and their resources without receiving any compensation or official acknowledgment from the party.

"I have had the opportunity to sit and interact with our women, both young and old, and I can tell you that the majority of them are dissatisfied with the party. I speak for our party at the national level, and I lead the majority of our women at the polling station, constituency, regional, and national levels.

"They feel abandoned, ostracised, and disheartened... because, as the party in power, we are unable to give them—including graduates—opportunities to start businesses or become independent.

She emphasised, "And I know this is all about leadership, so I'm presenting myself to our ladies so they will find our party, the NPP, more appealing and worthy of dying for.

Number 2 on the ballot for the NPP National Women Organiser election is Ms. Ellen Ama Daaku. She is sure she can topple the current national organiser for women.
