WOMEN IN PR GHANA HOLDS 6TH ANNUAL SUMMIT

Females in PR The annual summit for female students, professionals, and academics in communication and public relations was held in Ghana for the sixth time.

The two-day hybrid event, which took place on July 8 and 7, with the topic "PR Women as Change Agents in the Competitive Corporate World," was organised virtually on Day 1 through zoom and Facebook and in person on Day 2, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the AH Hotel in East Legon.

 

 

Eminent speakers and communication experts from Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, and the UK participated in this year's summit, which featured a number of important themes including female leadership and mentoring, executive visibility, sustainable development, corporate communications, digital storytelling, and social currency.

The Women in PR Ghana Mentoring Programme was also introduced during this year's summit, with the Top 10 PR Women in Ghana for 2021 serving as mentors.

 

 

 

As a crucial part of WiPR Ghana's objective to support the next generation of PR women, this initiative provided young female professionals with the chance to be mentored.

 

Experts Ronke Lawal, founder of Ariatu PR, Iretomiwa Akintunde-Johnson, lead PR and communications adviser for ID Africa, and Adisa Amanor-Wilks, director of Abjel Communications, participated in a panel discussion at the 2022 WiPR summit that focused on "Using Social Currency to Build a Global Network."

 

 

Uche Ofodile, CEO of MTN Benin, gave a talk after that on "Increasing Female Leadership via Mentorship."

Asiedua Addae, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank, and Nwamaka Onyemelukwe, Director of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability at Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, were two seasoned speakers that spoke on the second day.

 

They both gave lengthy presentations on the subjects of, respectively, "PR Women as Strong Advocates for Sustainable Development" and "Transforming the PR Landscape via Digital Storytelling."

 

The topic of the panel discussion was "The Value of Executive Visibility in Corporate Communications," and the panellists were Odelia Ntiamoah, CEO of the SNB group, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Communications Manager for MTN Ghana, and Anne Sackey, Marketing and Communications Manager.

This year's Day 2 summit was hosted by Nana Akua Aborampah, Business News Editor at Media General Ghana Limited. Pamela Boateng, PR Officer at SIC Insurance Ltd., and Samuel Osei, Manager, Communications & External Relations, Newmont, respectively, moderated the panel discussions for Day 1 and Day 2.
