Klopp Hints That Nunez Could Play In Another Position After First Liverpool Outing
Darwin Nunez donned a Liverpool jersey for the first time earlier today while playing for the Reds against Manchester United in a preseason friendly.The 23-year-old striker had a mixed performance as his new team was destroyed 4-0 by Man United in the Bangkok Century Cup in Thailand. He played the final 30 minutes of the match. The Uruguayan had two chances during the game, with the best one being blasted over the bar from very close range. Klopp hinted at the fact that the player was clearly out of shape after the game.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool paid Benfica £85 million to get Nunez this summer, and many believed that they intended to use the striker in his favoured position. Although it is still very conceivable that on the first day of the tournament, Klopp will use the former Benfica player somewhere else on the field, Klopp suggested after today's game.
Nunez is a number nine who can also play on the wing, Klopp said when questioned about Nunez's role this season after the game, according to the Liverpool Echo.
"We'll check to see where he plays."

Richarlison failed to register a goal, but he still made the effect Conte was aiming for, and the Italian coach expressed his delight at having the Brazilian in his team for the characteristics and adaptability he brought.
During his four years at Everton, the 25-year-old has largely played as a striker, scoring a solid 53 goals in 152 games across all competitions for the Toffees. He can, however, be operated on either wing, as he did at Goodison Park on a number of occasions. Richarlison failed to register a goal, but he still had the desired impact for Conte, who expressed his happiness at having the Brazilian player in his squad.
