The deputy national communications officer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the barrage of criticism leveled at John Boadu, the party's general secretary, is unfair.
Ahead of the party's delegate conference to elect national officers on Saturday, 'JB', as he is fondly called, is facing a lot of criticism from some members of the party.
The General Secretary hopeful is being criticized for not picking up phone calls and also not extending a helping hand to party members in need.
Jennifer Queen expressed utter displeasure with the criticism, saying that “with Mr. John Boada's busy schedule as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of our party, he cannot pick up every call at once.
"As the general secretary of our party, he attends cabinet meetings that sometimes go well into the night, and therefore is practically unable to respond to all his calls as they come."
In an interview with Sompa Radio in Kumasi on Wednesday, she continued that "JB as the chief scribe of our party handles all matters emanating from constituencies across the country, so it is always virtually impossible to receive his calls."
According to Queen, Mr. Boadu, as dedicated as he is to the affairs of the party, always tries to return most of the missed calls in his spare time.
On the question of when Mr. Boadu does not help party members, the Deputy Communications Officer pointed out that the former national organizer has helped a number of party members in various ways.
"I know for sure that Mr. Boadu has given a lot of job opportunities and financial assistance to several believers," she said.
The JE communicator therefore called on party people who benefited from Mr. Boadu's benevolence to come forward and defend him.
Queen insisted that Mr Boadu as General Secretary was the party's best bet to crack the '8'.
According to her, Mr. Boadu has over the years acquired the necessary experience to map out workable strategies to secure a third electoral victory for the party in 2024.
"Even as the incumbent general secretary, he was able to snatch victory for the incumbent party in 2016, he retained power in 2020, and therefore he can do the same in 2024," the Queen stressed, while urging delegates to vote wisely on Saturday, especially for the position of general secretary .
Mr Boadu is being challenged by four other persons but the contest is expected to be a straight fight between him and lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, the director general of the National Youth Employment Authority (NYEA).
