An hefty offer from an unknown club in Saudi Arabia has reportedly put Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo in a difficult situation.

The Portuguese attacker has made it known that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer and has been allowed extra time off for "family reasons" but has yet to report for preseason training.
Numerous teams, including Premier League rivals Chelsea, German powerhouse Bayern Munich, debut club Sporting Lisbon, and Italian team Roma, have been linked with a bid for the 37-year-old.
United, however, is sure that they do not want to transfer their top scorer because they had planned to keep the forward in their squad under new manager Erik ten Hag.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's ambition to play in the Champions League and contend for awards is what drove him to leave United.
Ronaldo has reportedly received a sizable offer from Saudi Arabia, which would make him the highest-paid athlete in history but require him to give up playing European football, according to CNN Portugal.
Ronaldo would receive an absolutely staggering €250,000,000 (£211,000,000) over two seasons under the offer, which is probably sponsored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

This equates to just over £105 million every season, or £2 million per week, in the Saudi Pro League, which is more than five times what he presently makes at Old Trafford.
It would take a salary that large—which is completely unprecedented—to persuade Ronaldo to leave European football while he still has hope of adding more championships and honors to his resume.
Although it has been said that United do not want to let Ronaldo leave, if they were to get a sizable offer for the seasoned attacker, it is possible that their position may change.
The Red Devils would want to get at least as much as they paid Juventus last summer, which was £12.9 million up front plus various add-ons that might total £19.5 million.
The anonymous Saudi Arabian club is actually willing to offer a £25 million proposal, which is more than that.
Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, would also receive about £17 million as part of the deal, making it potentially one of the greatest paydays and most unexpected transactions in the annals of contemporary football.
