According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly may make an aggressive bid for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

The American recently made Raheem Sterling his first signing at the club, but he's looking to add more players before the transfer window closes, with the wantaway £25 million striker top of his list.

Chelsea are hoping to derail Barcelona's pursuit of the experienced frontman, who has scored 344 goals in his eight years at the Allianz Arena.

But, with only a year left on his contract with the reigning Bundesliga champions, the 33-year-old is looking for a new challenge and has publicly expressed his desire to leave the club.

Lewandowski appears to prefer a move to the Nou Camp, with the Catalan giants recently making a bid to sign him.

However, according to the Mirror, Lewandowski is also interested in joining Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel desperate to bolster his striker options following Romelu Lukaku's return to Inter Milan.

As a result, Jacobs would not be surprised if Boehly launched a bid to bring him to west London.

What did Jacobs think of Lewandowski?

"Chelsea will be wary of another 'Raphinha repeat,' where they agree a fee only to find Lewandowski still waiting for Barcelona," he told GIVEMESPORT.

But it wouldn't surprise me if Boehly goes ahead, if we see another quick bid, with cash up front, to try to price Barcelona out of the market.

Why is Chelsea interested in Lewandowski?

Lewandowski will be 34 next month, but he is still regarded as Europe's best striker.

Last season, the Bayern Munich star scored 50 goals in all competitions, including 13 in the Champions League, which was more than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi combined (12).
