Steven Gerrard, former Liverpool captain and current Aston Villa head coach, has given his honest assessment of Manchester United under Erik ten Hag following Liverpool's victory.
According to his comments, Steven Gerrard is one of the Premier League managers who sat glued to their televisions as Erik ten Hag explained his philosophy.
United began their pre-season campaign with a 4-0 victory over Liverpool in Bangkok before departing for Australia, where their second match will be played at the end of this week.
After playing Liverpool, Manchester United are expected to be back in action this Friday against Melbourne Victory, followed by another game against Gerrard's side on Tuesday, as had been scheduled earlier even before the end of the previous Premier League season.
The Red Devils will travel to Perth to face Crystal Palace before returning to Europe to face Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30 and Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford the following day.
Manchester United will be hoping to build on their impressive start in Bangkok, and Steven Gerrard is determined to be a stumbling block along the way.
In an interview with 10 News First, Gerrard admitted that Manchester United had been his personal enemy, saying, "Manchester United, obviously, the name speaks for itself." From a personal standpoint, they've been a competitor of mine for many years.
However, the legend has already identified some changes in United's style of play that he believes must be anticipated before facing the team.
"I watched their game against Liverpool with the new manager. It appears that they will adopt a more aggressive and forward-thinking approach. We'll be ready for that." He went on.
And, based on his candid admission about Manchester United's change in style of play, it's safe to say that Gerrard sees Erik ten Hag as one manager who could cause problems for Premier League coaches next season.
