The transfer window is becoming increasingly competitive as top European clubs who have yet to make their first signing push hard to complete their deals. Chelsea are currently interested in signing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. They are in serious talks and hope to complete the transaction as soon as the Raheem Sterling deal is finalized. If Chelsea is able to sign him, he could be one of the ten most expensive Premier League signings aged 30 and up.

Trippier and Wood are the premier league's two most expensive signings aged 30 and up. Despite their age, both players were signed for 30 million Euros. Trippier, who joined Newcastle United, scored many goals for the Magpies in the 2021/22 season, helping them finish in first place. Furthermore, following Coutinho's successful loan spell at Aston Villa in the 2021/22 season, the Premier League club signed the 30-year-old midfielder on a permanent basis for a fee of 20 million Euros. He will play for Aston Villa again next season.

Makelele, on the other hand, was signed by Chelsea from Real Madrid for 20 million Euros when he was over 30 years old. Makelele did exceptionally well in the premier league club and did not disappoint. In addition to Makelele, Coutinho, Trippier, and Wood, other expensive Premier League signings aged 30 and up include Patricio, Bravo, Olivier Giroud, Sokratis, Llorente, and Cristiano Ronaldo. At the age of 36, the Portuguese winger joined Manchester United for a fee of 15 million Euros.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, proved all critics wrong by scoring an incredible 24 goals for Manchester United in the 2021/22 season. Many players in this age group secured a move during the summer transfer window of 2022. Some were signed as free agents, while others were signed for less than 15 million Euros.
