Man Utd is on the verge of acquiring Lisandro Martinez over Arsenal, and it plans to up its initial £42 million bid as Ajax finds a replacement
According to rumours, MANCHESTER UNITED will raise its bid for Ajax star Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez is a top target for Erik ten Hag in the transfer market, and the Dutchman is reportedly "pressuring" United to sign the defender.
Martinez reportedly received a bid from the Red Devils of £42 million, just shy of his £46 million asking price.
However, according to De Telegraaf, United would match his valuation and are scheduled to hold additional talks on Wednesday.
After finding a replacement, Ajax apparently altered their mind regarding Martinez and are now open to discussing a deal.
Mykola Matvienko, a player from Ukraine, is a target for the Dutch champions in a £12.5m move.
Martinez is also thought to have informed Ajax that he wants to depart since United and Arsenal are interested in him.
The biggest of the multiple offers made by the Gunners for the Argentine is believed to have been around £34 million.
However, given that it falls short of Ajax's asking price, the center-back may end up at Old Trafford.
That gives Ten Hag a lot of encouragement because he wanted the transfer coordinators to increase their proposals for Martinez and Antony.
Martinez appears to be on the verge of a deal, but Ajax is still demanding £70 million for Antony.
The Brazilian's highest offer from United is £51 million, but Antony's representatives are reportedly pushing for a transfer to Old Trafford.
Arse has cooled their interest in signing Ajax center-back Lisandro Martinez, giving Manchester United the upper hand in the negotiation process.
Offers for the 24-year-old player from United and Arsenal were both turned down, and Ajax is holding out for a fee of €50 million (£42.4 million).
Martinez is rumored to have received three proposals from the Gunners, with the most recent one being £35 million plus an additional £4.3 million in add-ons.
Erik ten Hag is eager to reunite with his former defender in Manchester, and United is desperate to come to a deal despite the fact that they have already matched that offer, which Ajax also rejected.
Martinez is still a target for Arsenal, but according to Goal, United are now aggressively looking to reach an agreement with Ajax having moved ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race for his signature.
