The Management of the University of Education has hinted at a decision to set up a new campus in one of the rural areas of Effutu Municipality, this decision was reached when the university lost the Kumasi and Mampong campuses as they are now Full Fledged universities on their own.
This was made known by Dr Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie, Head of Finance at the University of Education, Winneba, when an entourage from the Atekyedo paid the School a courtesy call.The Head of Finance express the University's desire to replace its earlier campuses with a full satellite campus in Ateyedo, Winneba.
As he address the elders of the town, he indicated that the new facility will have all of the amenities of a University such as Student Housing, Lecture rooms, Offices, Faculties or School, and a registrar among other things.The University acquired the land in the town 24 years ago to set up this sub-campus .Dr Ackorlie, thank the elders for their assistance in safeguarding the land all this while.
He continue, and said in all sincerity all the three existing campuses in Winneba are now full therefore the need to embark on this project as soon as possible at Atekyedo. He implores the traditional leaders to give more lands to the University to enable them to build more projects and Infrastructure to open up the area and provide more jobs for the populace and help Simpa to prosper.
The Leader of the entourage Neenyi Kojo Sey II, Gyaasehen of Effutu, expressed his enthusiasm and thanks to the UEW Management for their plans to create a campus at Atekyedo to strengthen the town.He pleaded with the Management of the University to assist the small Community to build a Palace in remembrance of the Chief who initiated the sales of the land to the University.
Dr Obaapanin Oforiwaa Adu. Head of University Relation Office and Media at UEW, as a custom by Effutu traditions she delivered assorted items to the Elders of Atekyedo.
Atekyedo is the smallest town in the Effutu municipal located 10 kilometres from Winneba
