NDC ANNOUNCES ROAD MAP FOR INTERNAL ELECTIONS

A schedule for the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) internal branch elections has been released by the NEC.

The nationwide exercise will start on July 20 and go through September 3, 2022.

 

 

In an effort to ensure successful branch elections, the party also announced additional initiatives, such as the creation of new electronic platforms to make it easier to pay dues, accept donations, get nomination forms, and issue electronic identity cards, among other things.

 

 

 

 

 

Zoning

 

 

 

The country has been divided into three zones, according to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, who revealed the road map during a press conference yesterday.

 

 

 

He said that Zone One includes the five northern areas of Northern, Savannah, North, and Alaska. While Zone Three is made up of the Central, Volta,Oti, and Greater Accra regions, Zone Two is made up of the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Western, and Western North regions.

 

 

 

Exercise

 

According to Mr. Nketiah, nominations can be filed starting on July 22 and ending on July 23, 2022.

 

 

He stated that the screening of nominees will occur between July 24 and July 25, 2022, and that nominees who had complaints of any kind would have their cases addressed on July 26, 2022.

 

 

 

Elections for Zone Two will take place between July 31 and August 4, 2022, and voter registration lists will be displayed on July 24 and 25.Beginning on July 26 and 27, nominations may be submitted; vetting will follow on July 28 and 29; and the election will be held on July 30.

Regarding Zone 3, he stated that voting will take place from August 4 to August 9 and that the voters' list will be on display from July 28 to July 29. On July 30 and 31, nominations must be filed, and on August 1 and 2,2022, they must be vetted. complaints for nominees following the screening on August 3.

The last round of elections, which will be held in the Ashanti and Eastern regions between August 28 and September 3, were also announced by Mr. Nketiah.

 

He clarified that the two areas had been set aside "for strategic considerations."

 

 

In those two areas, the voter registration list would be displayed between August 21 and August 22, and nominations would be submitted between August 23 and August.  The vetting process lasts from August 25 through August 26, and on August 27, 2022, requests for a review of grievances are heard.

 

 

 

He said that a special review committee had been established to go over all petitions already before the party's disciplinary committee as well as future petitions that would be submitted.

 

 

 

Fees

 

He urged party members to use the recently launched electronic platforms to pay GH 10 for their nomination forms while also urging the rank and file to make sure they paid their GH 2 dues.

 

 

In a constituency like Afram Plains South in the Eastern Region, among others that he did not name, Mr. Nketiah said that the issuing of identity cards will be suspended. In order to do a decent job, he added, "We have staggered the polls. This timetable applies to every constituency generally. Where we see that a particular constituency is not ready because of various concerns, we will continue the process and afterwards fix their issues."
