According to news reporter Fabrizio Romano, Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly is set to be unveiled as Chelsea's new signing after an agreement on personal terms and the transfer fee was reached with him and his club Napoli.
Following the signing of the paperwork, Koulibaly will undergo medicals and become Chelsea's second signing, following the completion of the deal for Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
Chelsea's next target is thought to be Nathan Ake, whom they want to resign after selling him to Bournemouth a few years ago. According to reports, his club Manchester City may be willing to sell him for a fair price. After losing two of their best defenders, Chelsea is interested in him.
As a result, in today's article, we will attempt to forecast Chelsea's starting lineup for the upcoming season if they are successful in their pursuit of Ake. Let's see how they can possibly align;
GOALKEEPER
Chelsea's first choice goalkeeper is not up for debate, as Eduardo Mendy is expected to continue playing for the Blues, based on his recent game record, saves, and coach Thomas Tuchel's selection decision. Mendy has a chance to beat Kepa Arrizabalagha in this race and start first in the goal post.
DEFENCE
This is the position that is expected to change significantly as a result of club signings and departures. Nathan Ake, if he joins the Blues, could take Antonio Rudiger's left center back position. Thiago Silva could keep his center back spot if new signing Kalidou Koulibaly starts on the right side of the defense.
MIDFIELD
There are fewer expected changes in this position because Chelsea has not signed or sold any players. Ngolo Kante and Jorginho could form a central midfield partnership. To set up the midfield, Reece James could run on the right wing back while Marcos Alonso complements him on the left wing back.
FORWARD
One attacking midfielder and two strikers could make up the forward line. Mason Mount is expected to play attacking midfield, with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz forming an attacking duo up front.
Arrizabalagha, Kepa
Malang Trevor Chalobah Sarr
Kovacic, Mateo
Chilwell, Ben
Callum Hudson-Odoi
Pulisic, Christian
Werner, Timo
Barkley, Rose
